TANGEDCO was constituted on 1 November 2010 as part of the restructuring of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB), established on 1 July 1957. It is responsible for power generation and distribution across Tamil Nadu, serving over 3.36 crore consumers through a network of 1,949 sub-stations and 4,05,528 distribution transformers.
